Xie Yuxiu's husband pioneered business in Shanghai from Taiwan 12 years ago. Before long, she followed his husband and came to Shanghai. Ten years ago, she moved to Suzhou and became one of the first group of Taiwan trader's wives in Suzhou. After mature reflections, she opened the first catering shop invested by Taiwan trader in Suzhou-"Good Bet". We made an interview with her in his catering shop-"Good Bet" on April 29.
A lot of Taiwan people are so familiar with Xie Yuxiu and her catering shop that they will visit there on arrival. As Xie Yuxiu introduced, Taiwan people have always made their first step in Suzhou to "Good Bet" in these years. They chat with her and she is very glad to give suggestions to them on which school for their children to start school, where buy houses, how is the legal environment and what the "important notices" to invest in Suzhou.
With the suggestions from Xie Yuxiu, about 100 Taiwan people have settled down or invested in Suzhou with confidence in these two to three years.
"Only several days ago, a Taiwan person sought advice here. He said that he wanted to open a catering shop in Suzhou and wondered what were relevant provisions. I said that there were two ways for him: it was required for at least US$50 thousand registered capital for the foreign capital way; besides, he might set up a shop with local reliable friends or relatives by way of joint venture." Now this businessman from Taiwan is busy preparing with the matters to open a shop.
There are various magazines and "Investment Guide" Manual on the bookshelves in the reading area in the hall, published by either Jiangsu or other provinces. As Xie Yuxiu introduced, all these manuals "crash the gate"! Because many people know many guests from Taiwan will visit "Good Bet", they leave these investment promotion manuals here.
"That year we went here for investment, since we were not familiar with local environment, custom and language, etc., we bore hardships. Now I live here. Thus many Taiwan traders may suffer less hardship and help them avoid roundabout way."
It is nice that after the visit from her younger brother and nephew, she opened the catering shop. But when they came here, they would no long go back home. Her younger brother is married to a local girl and their daughter is six years old now. Her nephew is married to a beautiful actress. Xie Yuxiu says happlily, "we all live and work in Suzhou now."
